Princess Kate apologizes for editing Royal Family image after news agencies pull photo

Full story

A photo celebrating Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom released by the Royal Family featuring Kate, the Princess of Wales, and her children has sparked controversy after being pulled by several news organizations over alteration concerns. Kensington Palace had stated Prince William took the photo, aiming to share a personal family moment.

However, inconsistencies flagged by agencies like The Associated Press led to suspicions of manipulation. In response, Kate acknowledged her editing on Monday, March 11.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day,” she stated.

This incident not only fuels debates over edited images by public figures but also marks Kate’s first public appearance since her abdominal surgery in January. The removal of the photo by major media groups, including Getty and Reuters, underscores the Royal Family’s delicate balance with public and media interactions during Catherine’s gradual return to public life.
