Social media giant, Facebook, announced they intend to change its name in the coming weeks. The timing of this is leading many to question the company’s motives. Recently, Facebook came under fire for creating and maintaining an toxic environment for young users on Instagram.
According to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, the company is interested in expanding upon its various virtual reality investments which is the reason for the name change. The most recent idea for Facebook to grow the VR space comes with the “metaverse”, a space where users can walk, talk and live within a virtual realm.
Once this news broke, social media users took to Twitter to give Facebook suggestions and inspiration but mostly jokes for what the company should use as a name.
