The affidavit used to obtain the search warrant on former President Trump’s mar-a-lago home has been released.
It reveals the criminal investigation was opened by the FBI after a referral from the National Archives and Records Administration. It also shows the 15 boxes of material Trump had previously handed over to the National Archives contained 184 documents that were marked classified.
Agents said in the affidavit that there is probable cause to believe there were more classified documents at Mar-a-lago in rooms that are not authorized to contain highly classified material.
But past that, it doesn’t say much, because the affidavit is heavily redacted. In fact, some pages are completely blacked out.
