Sen. Rubio to release COVID-19 origins report with new documents

Full story

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., announced that he will soon release a report revealing new information about the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to his office, the report will include previously undisclosed documents and a mountain of circumstantial evidence that the virus likely began after a lab accident in Wuhan.

“We have enough pieces put together to really change the entire narrative. There is no limit to what they are willing to do to make sure the full story is never known,” Rubio said of the Chinese Communist Party in a trailer teasing the report’s release.

According to a statement, the report will explore what was happening in China during the years and months leading up to the known outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This report uncovered and will reveal evidence that was either previously unknown or otherwise ignored by the U.S. government,” Rubio’s statement said.

The Senator’s office isn’t sharing the exact release date.

Last week, both FBI Director Christopher Wray and former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield told Congress that they believe the pandemic began after a lab leak incident in Wuhan.

“This conclusion is based primarily on the biology of the virus itself. Including the rapid, high infectivity for human to human transmission,” Redfield said.

Redfield explained that he doesn’t believe it is scientifically plausible that COVID-19 jumped from a bat to humans and became so infectious so quickly.

“All viruses are not the same. So when you look at coronaviruses for SARS and MERS, for example, when they entered the human species, which they did through an intermediate, they never learned how to go human to human. Even to this day they don’t know how to go human to human,” Redfield said.

Director Wray told the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence that the FBI has assessed since the summer of 2021 that the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic was likely a lab incident in Wuhan.
