A storm is brewing in Florida between former president Donald Trump and Republican Governor Ron DeSantis.
According to the Washington Times, DeSantis has made a “direct plea” to the former president, asking him to reschedule a campaign-style rally planned in Sarasota, Florida over the weekend.
Sarasota is just about 200 miles from Surfside, where more than 140 people are still missing after a condominium building partially collapsed and search efforts have halted.
The Washington Times also reported a prominent Republican in Florida told Trump to “read the room.”
However, Trump’s team says it plans to go ahead with the Sarasota event as scheduled.
This would cap off a busy week for the former president. Last weekend, Trump spoke at a rally in Ohio, and earlier this week, he toured the border in Texas.
