The Summer Olympic Games took over social media timelines with wins, losses and history-making records. Fans captured the trending moments that showed sportsmanship, strength and celebrations.

SOME INCREDIBLE MOMENTS AT THE TOKYO GAMES LIT UP SOCIAL MEDIA, FROM CARDBOARD BEDS TO SHARED MEDALS. 

FIRST UP, ALLYSON FELIX WINS HER 10TH OLYMPIC MEDAL, TYING AN AMERICAN RECORD. SHE RAN HER FASTEST EVER – AS A 35 YEAR OLD MOTHER – INSPIRING PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIA WITH HER BRONZE WIN IN THE WOMEN’S 400 METER. 

DUTCH TRACK OLYMPIAN, SIFAN HASSAN RAN IN THE WOMEN’S 1500 METER, SHE BEGAN TRENDING ON SOCIAL WHEN SHE FELL DOWN DURING THE RACE AND IMMEDIATELY GOT BACK UP AND QUALIFIED FOR THE SEMI-FINALS. 

TWO AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC TEAMS GOT A LITTLE ROWDY AFTER THEIR  RUGBY AND ROWING WINS. THE ATHLETES GOT IN TROUBLE FOR HOSTING A PARTY IN THE OLYMPIC VILLAGE – TRASHING HOTEL ROOMS AND RISKING THE SPREAD OF COVID-19. 

FRIENDS WHO WIN TOGETHER, CELEBRATE TOGETHER. JOINT CHAMPIONS QATAR’S, MUTAZ BARSHIM AND ITALY’S, GIANMARCO TAMBERI  SHARED THEIR OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL TIE IN MEN’S HIGH JUMP.  

AND ANOTHER BIG HIT ON SOCIAL WASN’T THE ATHLETES – IT WAS THEIR BEDS. WHICH WERE MORE LIKE CARDBOARD. POSSIBLY TO DISCOURAGE OVERNIGHT GUESTS?
