Trump to launch his own media company, social media platform

Former President Donald Trump announced the launch of his own new media company Wednesday. The company is called Trump Media & Technology Group.

“In the year 2021, the media pendulum has swung dangerously far to the left. Silicon Valley, the mainstream media, and Big Tech have begun to forcibly silence voices that do not align with their woke ideology,” the group writes on its website. “TMTG intends to even the playing field by providing people with open media platforms where they can share and create content without fear of reputational ruin.”

TMTG will include its own social media platform, called “Truth Social”. According to a press release from TMTG, Truth Social is already available to pre-order on Apple’s App store. The beta version is expected to be released next month, with the full version coming early next year.

“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American President has been silenced,” Former President Trump said in the press release, according to a tweet from his spokesperson. “This is unacceptable.”

Trump’s comments come despite the fact that some Conservative voices still appear to do well on traditional platforms, according to a daily list compiled by a New York Times technology columnist and an internet studies professor. Eight of the top 10 most popular Facebook posts for Thursday were from Conservative pundits.

Trump was banned from Facebook and Twitter following the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. He and his team have spoken about launching his own social media site ever since that happened.

“This is something that I think will be the hottest ticket in social media, it’s going to completely redefine the game, and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what exactly President Trump does,” Trump senior adviser Jason Miller said of a Trump social media platform back in March.

Earlier this year, Trump launched a blog called “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump”. The blog was shut down after 29 days.

Annie Andersen: TRUMP WAS BANNED FROM FACEBOOK AND TWITTER FOLLOWING THE JANUARY 6 INSURRECTION.

AT THE TIME, HE HAD MILLIONS OF FOLLOWERS ON TWITTER.

THIS ISN’T THE FIRST TIME TRUMP HAS TRIED SOCIAL MEDIA.

EARLIER THIS YEAR TRUMP LAUNCHED A BLOG CALLED “FROM THE DESK OF DONALD J. TRUMP” BUT ENDED IT AFTER JUST 29 DAYS.
