The announcement comes nearly a week after the election.
Miller, known for his advocacy of strict immigration policies, has worked with Trump since 2016, when the president-elect first campaigned for the White House. Miller also wrote Trump’s acceptance speech for the 2016 Republican National Convention.
He also served as a senior adviser for policy during Trump’s first term.
During President Joe Biden’s administration, Miller led America First Legal. The organization resembles a conservative American Civil Liberties Union and has filed lawsuits challenging Democratic policies.
Miller was also a frequent presence on Trump’s campaign trail this year, traveling with the former president and often speaking before him at rallies.
Miller is expected to play a key role in implementing Trump’s immigration agenda, including plans for mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. Trump also indicated that he plans to resume construction of a border wall between the United States and Mexico.
