THIS SEMESTER, THE UNIVERSITY IMPLEMENTED THE FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND MANDATE FOR THE CLASS OF 2028.
U-C SAN DIEGO SAYS THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO INTERTWINE APPROVED CLIMATE COURSES WITH GENERAL EDUCATION AND “MAJOR-SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS.” SCHOOL OFFICIALS SAY IT WON’T INCREASE STUDENTS’ OVERALL WORKLOAD.
THERE ARE MORE THAN 40 COURSES FULFILLING THE REQUIREMENT FOR THE 2024-2025 ACADEMIC YEAR.
COVERING A RANGE OF TOPICS FROM POLITICS, ANTHROPOLOGY, VISUAL ARTS, GLOBAL HEALTH AND MORE.
A COURSE MUST DEDICATE AT LEAST 30 PERCENT OF ITS SUBJECT-MATTER TO CLIMATE CHANGE TO BE COUNTED\.
