The ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee has informed the U.S. attorney general and the director of the FBI that he has whistleblower reports of political bias in the Hunter Biden investigation. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote in a letter that multiple FBI whistleblowers told him the agency received derogatory information about the president’s son and falsely portrayed it as misinformation.

The volume and consistency of these allegations substantiate their credibility,” Grassley wrote.

The letter stated that allegations were made to the FBI in August 2020 about criminal financial activity by Hunter Biden. An FBI Supervisory Intelligence Analyst reportedly opened an assessment of the allegations, which FBI headquarters used to discredit the information and cease investigation. Grassley wrote that the evidence labeled as disinformation was either verified or verifiable.

According to the letter, there are indications of a scheme by FBI officials to portray negative information about Hunter Biden as misinformation. That includes an allegation that the assessment into the information was opened at the same time the FBI provided an unsolicited briefing to Sens. Grassley and Ron Johnson, R-Wis., about their Hunter Biden inquiry. The briefing contents were then leaked to the press in what Grassley described as an effort to paint their investigation in a false light.

Grassley said if these allegations of political bias are true, the Justice Department and FBI are “institutionally corrupted to their very core to the point in which the United States Congress and the American people will have no confidence in the equal application of the law.”

Grassley is now requesting documents from the FBI including case files and the records regarding derogatory information about Hunter Biden. Grassley also wants FBI records about the August 2020 briefing given to him and Sen. Johnson, including the basis for it and the summary of what was said, called an FBI 302. He said Congress will use it to make its own assessment of what happened.
