Biden administration clears border wall parts for auction ahead of Trump’s second term

The Biden administration is inviting bids for nearly 20 miles of border wall sections. The auction includes more than 30,000 steel wall panels.
During Donald Trump’s first term in office, his administration focused heavily on building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. The auction process is set to begin shortly, signaling a shift in U.S. immigration policy. According to Raw Story, the auction was initially set up after a 2022 report by the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Government Operations and Border Management Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs found that the government is “wasting money by having contractors and workmen stand around guarding materials for the border wall.” Aside from the auction, Raw Story notes, some of the materials were sent to other states, which used them to build their own portions of the wall.
