Boebert, Burlison introduce bill to abolish the ATF

Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., has introduced legislation, H.R. 129, to abolish the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives as part of ongoing Republican efforts against the agency. Rep. Eric Burlison, R-Mo., described the ATF as an “unconstitutional agency” and argued its functions duplicate state regulations.
ATF Director Steven Dettelbach warned that reducing the agency’s power could lead to more violence, stating law enforcement is crucial in fighting crime. Supporters of the ATF, including gun control advocates, argue it plays an important role in combating gun violence.
