California Gov. Gavin Newsom will spend part of week in DC as he tries to Trump-proof state policies

California Governor Gavin Newsom is meeting with the Biden administration to discuss zero-emission vehicles and disaster relief, which were targeted by President-elect Donald Trump. Newsom called for a special session in December to protect California’s liberal policies from potential changes with Trump’s return to office.

Sen.-Elect Adam Schiff stated he will collaborate with Trump on the economy but warned he will oppose any attempts to undermine Californians’ rights and democracy.

Newsom is seeking federal approval for climate rules and a $5.2 billion reimbursement for COVID-19 emergency funding.
