Calls to LGBTQ youth crisis hotline rose 33 percent on Inauguration Day: Trevor Project

According to LGTBQ+ youth suicide prevention group, The Trevor Project, calls and text messages to its crisis intervention hotline rose by a third during President Donald Trump’s inauguration. Meanwhile, singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus pledged $10,000 to help transgender people with gender-affirming surgeries after President Trump signed an anti-trans executive order.
Trump’s executive order restricts recognition of gender identities and eliminates federal funding for gender-affirming health care. LGBTQ+ advocacy organization Lambda Legal plans to challenge Trump’s executive order in court, citing potential negative impacts on health care and protections.
