China launches investigation in retaliation over EU’s probe of solar, wind power and other products

On Wednesday, July 10, China’s Commerce Ministry announced it plans to launch an investigation into whether unfair trade practices were adopted by the European Union (EU) in its probe of Chinese companies.

The Ministry said the investigation will center around wind power, photovoltaics, security equipment and other types of renewable energies. The investigation will most likely be completed before Jan. 10, 2025, but may be extended three months to April.

The EU in part investigated a Chinese company bidding on a large solar park in Romania, among other things.
