DeSantis, longtime Newsom rival, offers help to California amid wildfires

Florida is offering California and its governor, Gavin Newsom, manpower and resources to battle wildfires in Los Angeles County, which have destroyed more than 1,000 structures and claimed at least two lives. Over 80,000 people have evacuated the area due to the wildfires, and conversations between Florida and California officials are ongoing.
Florida’s State Fire Marshal, Jimmy Patronis, said that they are prepared to deploy firefighters and mental health specialists to assist California.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican, emphasized the importance of coming together during disasters, stating, “When disaster strikes, we must come together to help our fellow Americans in any way we can”
