Elon Musk slams Social Security as a ‘Ponzi scheme,’ sparking new concerns

Elon Musk described Social Security as “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time” during an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, which garnered nearly 8 million views. Progressive lawmakers, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, criticized Musk’s claims about Social Security, which they argued targets vulnerable populations.

Sen. Bernie Sanders refuted Musk’s statements, calling them “totally outrageous,” and emphasized that Social Security has consistently paid eligible Americans for 89 years.

A separate advocacy group stated that Social Security is 90% funded for the next 25 years and has not missed a payment in 89 years.
