Gisèle Pelicot’s husband sentenced to 20 years in French mass rape trial

Dominique Pelicot was sentenced to 20 years in jail for orchestrating mass rapes against Gisele Pelicot, as ruled by a French court in Avignon. Gisèle Pelicot, 72, is recognized as a feminist hero for standing up to her aggressors in court and waiving her right to a closed trial.

The mass rapes involved 51 men recruited online by Dominique Pelicot, who had confessed to the crimes.

Defendants claimed Gisèle Pelicot was a willing participant in a sex game, but they denied the allegations of rape and abuse.
