Iran would consider talks with US about concerns over militarization of nuclear program, UN mission says
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons. He cited a religious decree from Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei prohibiting such arms.
Iran expressed willingness to discuss concerns over the potential militarization of its nuclear program, contingent on negotiations not requiring the dismantling of its peaceful nuclear efforts.
Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei criticized calls for negotiations, describing them as bullying tactics aimed at domination rather than resolving issues.
Pezeshkian mentioned Iran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency to verify the peaceful nature of its nuclear program during a call with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.
