Israel arrested a Jerusalem man for allegedly spying on behalf of Iran, according to multiple reports. The suspect was apprehended in a joint operation by Israel’s Shin Bet internal security agency and the Central Unit of the Jerusalem Police.

Investigators believe that 23-year-old Jerusalem resident Erdler Israel Amoyal was in contact with Iranian agents. He was arrested on suspicion of espionage and planning attacks under Iranian guidance, the World Israel News reported.

Amoyal’s arrest comes amid ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran.
