Christopher Carnell, an 18-year-old defendant, seeks to delay his hearing to December 13, 2024, after the deadline for appointing electors. President-Elect Trump has promised clemency to Jan. 6 defendants, especially nonviolent ones.

Trump stated he would consider pardoning Jan. 6 defendants, asserting he would pardon those he believes are “innocent.

More than 1,500 people have been charged in connection to Jan. 6, and more than 1,000 have been convicted.
