Military left without IVF coverage as Congress secures fertility benefits

The final defense policy bill was passed without including provisions for military IVF coverage. Advocates pushed for military IVF coverage to be part of the defense policy discussions.

The absence of military IVF coverage has drawn criticism from supporters.

In order to get insurance coverage for IVF, U.S. service members must prove that their fertility issues are related to an injury or disease tied to their military service.
