Elon Musk has now officially been confirmed to be a “special government employee” working for President Donald Trump, according to a White House official. Musk has been granted access to sensitive payment systems at the U.S. Treasury Department and has a government email address.

Democrats express concerns that Musk is consolidating power within the federal government without accountability. Trump praised Musk’s work, stating, “I think Elon is doing a good job. He’s a big cost-cutter.” Musk has recently been targeting USAID for cuts.
