Trump administration sued over order banning transgender health care for minors

A group of families with transgender children filed a lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s executive order to stop federal funding for gender-affirming health care for transgender individuals under age 19 in U.S. District Court in Baltimore. The plaintiff’s mother, Kristen Chapman, expressed disappointment after her daughter’s scheduled care was canceled due to the order.

“I am heartbroken, tired and scared,” Chapman stated.

New York Attorney General Letitia James warned hospitals that stopping gender-affirming care for minors would violate the law, opposing Trump’s approach, which contrasts with the previous administration’s policy.

Alex Sheldon from GLMA stated that established medical standards for transgender youth care are being challenged by political agendas.

“We are confident that the law, science and history are on our side,” Sheldon said.
