Trump nominees ordered to stop posting on social media until confirmation: Report

President-elect Donald Trump’s chief of staff, Susie Wiles, instructed fellow nominees to stop posting on social media until their Senate confirmation process is complete. The directive aims to prevent conflicts during the nomination process and is a standard procedure for nominees, according to multiple reports.

“While this instruction has been delivered previously, I am reiterating that no member of the incoming administration or Transition speaks for the United States or the President-elect himself,” Wiles wrote in a memo obtained by The New York Post. “Accordingly, all intended nominees should refrain from any public social media posts without prior approval of the incoming White House counsel.”

The social media ban is intended to maintain a level of decorum.

The nominees are not allowed to comment on their nominations during the confirmation process to prevent misinformation. It also aims to prevent potential influence during the confirmation process, according to lawmakers.
