Trump seizes on one block of a Colorado city to warn of a migrant crime threat, even as crime dips

Former President Trump’s visit to Aurora, Colorado, contrasts with the city’s declining crime rate, which is consistent with trends across many American cities. Mayor Mike Coffman stated, “Aurora is a considerably safe city — not a city overrun by Venezuelan gangs,” addressing gang activity concerns.
Aurora police data revealed a 12% decrease in major crimes last month compared to September 2023. Residents of Aurora are saying that the threat has ebbed since it spiked, differing from Trump’s comments that the city was “a war zone.”
