Woman allegedly targets man in ‘Palestine’ sweatshirt at Panera, charged with hate crime

A woman has been charged with a hate crime after confronting a man wearing a ‘Palestine’ sweatshirt at a Panera in suburban Chicago. The woman, Alexandra Szustakiewicz, faces two counts of a hate crime and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

The victim, Waseem Zahran, reported attempted physical aggression during the incident while trying to deescalate the situation.

Szustakiewicz is also accused of trying to slap a cell phone out of the hands of a woman who was recording the incident.
