Zelenskyy sees ratings drop as Ukraine war nears 3rd anniversary

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s approval ratings have dropped to 52% as of December 2024, down from 90% in March 2022, according to a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology published on Jan. 7. The survey indicates that trust in Zelenskyy has fallen to 39%, reflecting a decline in popularity amid ongoing military challenges and uncertainty over international aid.

The polling comes as Russia’s war in Ukraine nears its third anniversary, with the Kremlin claiming Zelenskyy is no longer a legitimate leader, a statement largely ignored by the West.

Expectations for peace talks in 2025 are rising, as 38% of respondents in another KIIS survey expressed openness to territorial concessions for peace, up from 19 percent a year earlier.
