Republican rhetorical attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris, the leading Democratic candidate for president, escalated as soon as President Biden announced that he was stepping back from the election. Many Republicans accused Harris of being “a DEI hire” and indicated that she only got her position because of her skin color or gender, not her merit or talents. Liberals responded by claiming that “DEI hire” is “the new N-word” and defended Harris’s record in public service to assert that she does, in fact, have the skills and experience to lead the country.

Watch the above video as Straight Arrow News contributor Dr. Rashad Richey observes how Republicans are setting a much higher bar for Harris than they do for their own candidate, a convicted felon. Regardless, Dr. Richey continues, the 2024 election is still a fundamental choice between democracy and dictatorship.

The following is an excerpt from the above video:

Now, VP Harris has a tough job ahead. But make no mistake about it, it is unprecedented. So when someone says, well, she can’t win, because you only have 100 plus days, you only have this, and when a switch happens, that the whole damn thing is unprecedented — no one knows how this is going to turn out. But I will tell you this, I like the contrast. I prefer to have a real contrast ticket against Donald Trump.

Donald Trump has never won the heart, the mind, the soul of the American people. He has never won the popular vote. The vast majority of Americans have always voted against Donald Trump. Not once has he received the majority of the American vote. That to me, yes, hope, and it should give hope to you. All right.

For those who actually are supporting Trump, that means in my humble opinion, you do not support democracy, because the number one dynamic that’s on the agenda in this election is democracy itself.

All right, it’s m Q. I’m talking about the vitriol, the bias, the racism, already starting against VP, Kamala Harris, who is now presidential contender, Kamala Harris. You see those on the political right, especially those who are in Magga. They have decided to make this entire election as relates to Kamala Harris being The Contender about well, morality, ethics, you know, things that they excused from their chosen leader Donald Trump.

Here’s what’s interesting. Policy is what politics is supposed to be about.

Where are your policies? And do your policies align with the policy agenda of the individual and don’t fall for the she’s not electable argument. They said the same thing about President Barack Obama, when he was a junior senator, running against multiple political machines, even the political machine of the Clintons inside of the DNC. You see the electability argument is in the parameters of your mind and nothing else. But those on the left, who echo these, the sentiments understand that those on the right abandoned that argument a long time ago, when they found the most unelectable individual they could find a white male named Donald Trump. Donald Trump was not electable by any standard. His electability rating, was the lowest among all Republicans running when he initially started first time.

But those who supported him, abandoned that psychological paradigm, and said, of course, they’re only unelectable if we choose not to vote for them. They are very electable if you choose to vote for them. They realize that something I think Democrats need to do as well, when it comes to their chosen candidate. There’s always infighting inside of politics, inside of the same political system, same political party, you always have a level of infighting. Unfortunately, for Democrats, you saw some of that infighting out loud. Republicans are chaotic. They are dysfunctional in the Congress. They are dysfunctional in policy. As a matter of fact, Trump made them basically get rid of exacting policy issues on the Republican National Platform. They got rid of them. He doesn’t want to be exacting. He wants to be Trumpian rather than a Republican, as his son said, there is no Republican Party is only Magga. Now, VP, Harris has a tough job ahead. But make no mistake about it. It is unprecedented. So when someone says, Well, she can’t win, because you only have 100 plus days, you only have this and when a switch happens that the whole damn thing is unprecedented.
