These are the weeks where power is profoundly shifting. In Washington, the Democrats have lost The White House, and President Donald J Trump is returning first re elected president to lose in between and get back to the White House since Grover Cleveland the only other person ever to do it, and that was in the 19th century. So it’s quite a remarkable achievement. The Senate went Republican, shifted from the Democrats and the house by the narrowest of margins, actually, I think the second narrowest in American history, stayed Republican. So you’re probably going to have Republican Speaker Mike Johnson, who, in an extraordinary effort, won, despite some opposition, on the very first ballot, a very big victory for both Johnson and for President Trump, you’re going to have John Thune, the new Senate Leader, replacing Mitch McConnell, who had been the Republican leader for 18 years, the longest period in history for a Senate leader. And of course, the three of them coming together is a tremendous shift in power in Washington, a shift away from the left, a shift away from the bureaucracy, a shift, frankly, away from the news media and the academic world. I think you’re going to see dramatic changes. I think they’re going to move in the direction of a more dynamic, more rapidly growing, more economically powerful America, and a dynamic which shrinks the Washington bureaucracy and increases freedom back home for the American people. This is a very exciting time. It’s going to be very challenging. President Trump is going to have to appeal to the American people again and again and again. And if he does on issues where the American people are solid, I think he’ll convince a number of Democrats that their own survival requires that they work with the Trump administration, and I think they’re going to get a surprising amount through. They’ll start, I believe, with a bill that involves the border getting control again of our own country. Then they’ll move towards a very large tax cut and regulatory reform bill designed to really get the economy growing in the way that Ronald Reagan did in the 1980s and if they can pull those two off, they’ll be in pretty good shape going into 2026 to be able to continue to move the country towards a more dynamic America with a smaller federal government and a larger element of freedom for all Americans, it’s a very exciting time. I think the inauguration is going to be remarkable. And I think people are looking forward to really a dramatic improvement in American life, a dramatic increase in our economic strength and ability to deal with some of the affordability issues that we’ve really hurt so many Americans, and I look forward very much to seeing how all of this develops. So this week, we’re moving in the right direction, in the not very distant future, the inauguration of Donald J Trump.
