Kamala Harris has selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be her running mate and to potentially become the next Vice President of the United States as a progressive left guy. Myself, I think this is an excellent, excellent choice. Ben Shapiro already referring to Tim Walz as a radical leftist, which as funny as I think it is to hear that he’s really not a radical leftist, that I can assure you. So let’s talk a little bit about what’s going on. The two kind of final candidates were believed to be Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. And ultimately, the choice for Kamala Harris was Tim Walz. Tim walls is an excellent choice for three different reasons. Number one, this race, as much as any other, if not more, will be one or lost to a great degree based on how good R Harris and her running mate at confronting in real time, the Maga people and the terrible ideas of Trump walls has shown in his many media tour over the last few weeks. Some might call it an audition campaign. He’s shown he can do it. He’s been just as good on Fox News as he has on MSNBC, and he is just very good at the media appearances. That’s number one, that’s very good. Number two, the record in Minnesota as governor is really good. So when they try to come after him and say, You’re far left, what are they going to point point to when it comes to Minnesota, when Minnesota has very high standard of living, one of the top states in fiscal stability, protecting the environment, ranks well in education, ranks well in infrastructure, nice average per capita income. So it’s going to be they’ll do it, but it’s going to be more difficult for them to say Minnesota is proof of the disaster that is Tim walls in his ideas. And then number three, he actually has some really good policy accomplishments and policy ideas, right, like when Ben Shapiro says, this is a extreme progressive, he wanted school lunch to be paid for through taxes for all school kids. It’s not really radical, especially when, on the other hand, you have many Republicans who have said, No, we should cut free school lunches as soon as possible. 12 weeks of family, paid medical family and medical leave, paid legal cannabis, expanding the Child Tax Credit, working towards free college of free obviously at the point of sale, as it always is, we’re talking about paid through taxation. Those are all really good things. A path for Minnesota to be carbon free in terms of electricity by 2040 tax rebates for the working class, up to $1,300 he banned so called gay conversion therapy, which is bonkers, terrible stuff, universal background checks on firearms purchases, red flag laws, automatic voter registration, banning forever chemicals, protecting trans affirming health care and reproductive health care, proper funding for public schools. This is meat and potato stuff that Ben Shapiro can try to frame it as far left, but these are all things that most Americans, when you honestly talk to them about it, are things that they want. Now, what are the likely lines of attack against walls? I already gave you one, which is, he’s an extreme far leftist, and I think that they should be able to defeat that. They may also go after him for his 1990 5d, u I arrest in 1995 Tim Walz was arrested for driving under the influence. They might go after that, just in and of itself. And I would also expect them to start talking about how there was lack of transparency and he deceived the public previously about the details of that arrest. Is it campaign ending? No, I don’t think so, but they should be ready, at least to some degree, in terms of how to push back against it. Will there be debates? Is another question. I really hope that there will be debates. I recently interviewed Anthony Scaramucci, who worked for Trump at one point, and Scaramucci said Trump’s going to debate. The only reason Trump’s acting like he might not is to get attention, and then ultimately, he will debate, and then he’ll try to get the attention from the debate. Assuming that happens, my hope is that there is a Vance walls debate. I don’t want to get out ahead of my skis, but I can imagine based on how well walls has done in media appearances with adversarial media, and based on how horrifyingly on charismatic JD Vance has been, my hope would be that walls would really. Wipe the floor with JD Vance, what do you expect? Do you expect debates? What lines of attack do you expect against him, walls and more importantly, what do you think about the pick I want to hear from you. I.
Tim Walz excelled as a governor, will excel further as vice president
By Straight Arrow News
On Aug. 6, Democratic presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris tapped Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to be her running mate. Walz is a Democratic governor with 24 years in the National Guard and 20 years as a public school social studies teacher and football coach. He has a wide support base and is considered among Democrats to have been a good choice. However, it remains to be seen whether he can deliver any additional states in the Electoral College.
Watch the above video as Straight Arrow News contributor David Pakman reviews Walz’s achievements as the governor of Minnesota and examines what lines of rhetorical attack Republicans might respond with.
