Long Island authorities approved to shoot down mystery drones

Listen

Long Island authorities have received the greenlight from Nassau County as of Thursday, Dec. 19, to shoot down mysterious drones that may pose a threat. Officials say that they are not waiting for disaster to strike before taking action.

The authorization came as the county showed off a new cutting-edge drone command center. The technology reportedly allows authorities to track drones from miles away and can intercept and take down aircraft posing a threat, but it still needs approval from the U.S. federal government.

As they await permission, county officials sayid they’re taking preemptive action against any possible threats. When asked if the authorization violates federal law, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman responded.

“No, no, we have the ability to stop a crime that could result in tremendous loss of life or tremendous loss of property damage,” Blakeman said. “We have that right. It’s not something that’s exclusive to drones. It would be with respect to, if we had to takedown a truck that was full of explosives.”

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said his officers are willing and ready to shoot, noting the department’s “world-renowned snipers.”

The announcement follows the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) extension of its drone ban over New Jersey and parts of New York, including Brooklyn, Queens and parts of Long Island.

Gov. Kathy Hochul, D-N.Y., said the overflight restriction includes some of New York’s “critical infrastructure sites,” though she added there are currently “no threats to these sites.”

The FAA’s nearly monthlong ban allows for “deadly force” to be used to bring the drones down. While the White House has downplayed the drones as a non-threat to public safety, speculation is running wild.

A New Jersey mayor has claimed that the drones are sniffing out radioactive material, and a U.S. lawmaker raised concerns that they could be from an “Iranian mothership.” Others have suggested the sightings could be coming from space.

Ryder said he wants to use the new tracking tech to not just track drones but to shoot them down as well. In the meantime, he’s not waiting on the new technology.

“We have to do whatever means necessary to protect the people this county and we have been given that authorization,” Ryder said.

LONG ISLAND AUTHORITIES JUST GOT THE GREENLIGHT FROM NASSAU COUNTY TO SHOOT DOWN MYSTERIOUS DRONES.

OFFICIALS SAYING THEY’RE NOT WAITING FOR DISASTER TO HAPPEN BEFORE TAKING ACTION.

THE AUTHORIZATION CAME THURSDAY AS THE COUNTY SHOWED OFF A NEW CUTTING-EDGE DRONE COMMAND CENTER.

THE TECH ALLOWS AUTHORITIES TO TRACK DRONES FROM MILES AWAY AND CAN INTERCEPT AND TAKE DOWN AIRCRAFT POSING A THREAT.

BUT IT STILL NEEDS APPROVAL FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

THAT’S WHY COUNTY OFFICIALS SAY THEY’RE TAKING PREEMPTIVE ACTION.

ASKED IF THE AUTHORIZATION VIOTATES FEDERAL LAW, NASSAU COUNTY OFFICIAL BRUCE BLAKEMAN RESPONDED:

[BRUCE BLAKEMAN]

NO, NO, WE ALWAYS HAVE THE ABILITY TO STOP A CRIME THAT COULD RESULT IN TREMENDOUS LOSS OF LIFE OR TREMENDOUS LOSS OF PROPERTY DAMAGE.

WE HAVE THAT RIGHT. IT’S NOT SOMETHING THAT’S EXCLUSIVE TO DRONES. IT WOULD BE WITH RESPECT TO IF WE HAD TO TAKE DOWN A TRUCK THAT WAS FULL OF EXPLOSIVES.

[JACK AYLMER]

NASSAU COUNTY POLICE COMMISSIONER PATRICK RYDER SAYS HIS OFFICERS ARE WILLING AND READY TO SHOOT, NOTING, THE DEPARTMENT’S “WORLD-RENOWNED SNIPERS.”

THE ANNOUNCEMENT FOLLOWS THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION’S EXTENSION OF ITS DRONE BAN OVER NEW JERSEY AND PARTS OF NEW YORK, INCLUDING BROOKLYN, QUEENS AND LONG ISLAND.

NEW YORK GOVERNOR KATHY HOCHUL SAYS THE OVERFLIGHT RESTRICTION INCLUDES SOME THE STATE’S “CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE SITES,” THOUGH SHE ADDED THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO THREATS TO THESE SITES.

THE F-A-A’S NEARLY MONTHSLONG BAN ALLOWS FOR “DEADLY FORCE” TO BE USED TO BRING THE DRONES DOWN.

WHILE THE WHITE HOUSE HAS DOWNPLAYED THE DRONES AS A NON-THREAT TO PUBLIC SAFETY.

SPECULATION IS RUNNING WILD.

WITH A NEW JERSEY MAYOR CLAIMING THE DRONES ARE SNIFFING OUT RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL AND A U-S LAWMAKER RAISING CONCERNS THEY COULD BE FROM AN “IRANIAN MOTHERSHIP.” OTHERS HAVE SUGGESTED THE SIGHTINGS COULD BE FROM SPACE.

RYDER SAYS HE WANTS TO USE THE NEW TRACKING TECH TO NOT JUST TRACK DRONES BUT SHOOT THEM DOWN.

IN THE MEANTIME, HE’S NOT WAITING ON THE NEW TECH.

[PATRICK RYDER]

WE HAVE TO DO WHATEVER MEANS NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTY AND WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN THAT AUTHORIZATION.

Billy Bob Thornton reveals why he turned down two major villain roles

Kennedy Felton Lifestyle Correspondent/Producer

When it comes to playing villains, Billy Bob Thornton knows how to deliver a chilling performance. But in real life, the Academy Award winner has been deliberately steering clear of villainous roles, even if it means turning down big paychecks.

In a recent episode of The Playlist’s “Bingeworthy” podcast, Thornton revealed he passed on two major antagonist roles.

Thornton shared that he was approached to play Norman Osborn, also known as the Green Goblin, in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man.”

“With the Green Goblin, I didn’t feel like getting up at 4 a.m. for five or six hours of makeup,” he said.

A few years later, Thornton was up for another villain role in “Mission: Impossible III.” However, he declined, citing a concern about being typecast.

“I’m not going to be the bad guy who kills Tom Cruise,” Thornton said on the podcast. “America will hate me, and then the next thing you know, that’s all I’ll have to do from now on.”

Why Thornton avoids villain roles

Thornton believes that audiences remember villains from major films, and while a recent University of Michigan study found viewers often see redeeming qualities in movie villains, Thornton said he prefers roles that keep audiences guessing.

This year, Thornton is showcasing his versatility in Taylor Sheridan’s series “Landman,” which premiered last month. The show has already gained traction, with one clip from a recent episode going viral.

In the scene, Thornton’s character shares with his attorney the oil industry’s role in creating wind turbines.

“Do you have any idea how much diesel they have to burn to mix that much concrete or make that steel?” Thornton’s character says.

New episodes of “Landman” air every Sunday, with the season finale scheduled for Jan. 12.

When it comes to playing the bad guy, Billy Bob Thornton has more than a little practice.

“I can’t give you your mail if you don’t show some ID.” “Am I going to need to come back there and find it myself?”

But it turns out, the Academy Award winner has been steering clear of the villainous choice… even if it means missing out on some serious cash.

In a new episode of The Playlist’s “Bingeworthy” podcast, the acclaimed actor opens up about turning down two major villain roles.

Thornton revealed he was approached to play Norman Osborn – also known as the Green Goblin – in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man.”

And a few years later, he was also up for the role of the villain in “Mission Impossible 3.” But Thornton made it clear – he doesn’t have much interest in those kinds of roles.

He shared, “With the Green Goblin, I didn’t feel like getting up at 4 a.m. for five or six hours of makeup… And with ‘Mission: Impossible III’… he didn’t want to be remembered for killing one key star.”

“I’m not going to be the bad guy who kills Tom Cruise. America will hate me and then the next thing you know, that’s what I’ll have to do from now on,” said Thornton.

Thornton pointed out he thinks audiences remember villains from big movies, which kind of aligns with a recent study by the University of Michigan. It found while most people do remember movie villains, they’re often notable to audiences for their more ‘redeeming’ qualities.

“You didn’t have to kill it.” “Well I didn’t have to kill it til you stood there and dared the [bleeb] thing to bite you.”

Thornton says he wants to keep his roles less predictable.

And it seems he’s pulling it off this year, starring in Taylor Sheridan’s series “Landman”. The show premiered last month and is already gaining traction. A clip from a recent episode went viral with Thornton’s character breaking down to his attorney how wind turbines – thought to be a clean energy source – depend on the oil industry.

“Do you have any idea how much diesel they have to burn to mix that much concrete or make that steel, and haul this [censor] out here, and put it together with a 450-foot crane?”

A new “Landman” drops every Sunday with the last episode of the season set to air January 12th.

Wild burros removed in California over safety concerns, sparking local debate

Listen

Officials in San Bernardino County, California, are removing wild burros over public safety concerns. The decision has sparked pushback from some local residents. Many fear it could bring an end to the beloved community pastime of donkey watching.

“We really embrace them as a part of our community,” San Bernardino County resident Brandi Augenstein told KTLA. “It’s kind of fun sometime to watch them from your porch, just watch the donkeys roll through. I don’t believe removal is the answer.”

The county has partnered with Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue to relocate the animals. Officials said the burros need to be moved because an unsustainable growth in the population has led to damage to private property, car accidents and traffic disruptions.

Officials warn that continued instances of people feeding and interacting with the burros have exacerbated the issue. They said the animals are now more accustomed to human contact.

So far, wildlife officials have captured 68 burros. Those animals are now waiting for relocation to sanctuaries in Arizona and Texas. The burros are now set to receive medical assessments and treatments from leading national experts.

“The plan is to reduce the burro population to a manageable level to minimize incidents of injury and death,” San Bernardino County said in a statement. “Burros are constantly threatened with being struck by vehicles or deadly encounters with other man-made objects. To address these issues, the burros will be safely relocated to sanctuaries, where they can live free from the threat of vehicle collisions and other dangers created by human activities.”

However, while this burro relocation effort is being carried out over fears for the safety of both people and the animals, there are residents who say the move will also create new environmental hazards.

Residents argue the burros play an essential role in the local ecosystem. They claim the burros help by controlling overgrown brush, which, if left unchecked, could dry out and increase wildfire risks.

A petition opposing the relocation has garnered nearly 5,000 signatures. Many residents urged the county to reconsider its decision and terminate its contract with Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue.

WILD BURROS ARE BEING REMOVED FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA OVER SAFETY CONCERNS.

BUT SOME LOCALS ARE PUSHING BACK AGAINST THE DECISION-

SAYING IT COULD BRING AN END TO THE BELOVED COMMUNITY PASTIME OF DONKEY WATCHING.

“We really embrace them as part of our community, and it’s kind of fun sometimes just to sit on your porch and watch the donkeys roll through.”

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY HAS PARTNERED WITH THE ORGANIZATION PEACEFUL VALLEY DONKEY RESCUE TO TAKE THE ANIMALS OUT OF THE AREA.

OFFICIALS SAY THE GROWING BURRO POPULATION HAS REACHED UNSUSTAINABLE LEVELS, DESTROYING PRIVATE PROPERTY IN SOME NEIGHBORHOODS.

THEY’VE ALSO CAUSED OTHER ISSUES, INCLUDING CAR ACCIDENTS AND TRAFFIC DISRUPTIONS.

“People will pull over. They’ll feed them. They’ll try to interact with the donkeys. You don’t really want to do that, and because of that, they’ve gotten used to coming up to cars.”

SO FAR, 68 OF THE ANIMALS HAVE BEEN ROUNDED UP AND ARE AWAITING TRANSPORTATION TO SANCTUARIES IN ARIZONA AND TEXAS.

THE CAPTURED BURROS WILL RECEIVE MEDICAL ASSESSMENTS AND TREATMENTS FROM LEADING NATIONAL EXPERTS IN THE FIELD.

HOWEVER, WHILE THIS DONKEY RELOCATION EFFORT IS BEING CARRIED OUT OVER PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERNS-

THERE ARE RESIDENTS WHO SAY THIS WILL ALSO CREATE NEW ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS.

THEY ARGUE THE BURROS HELP CONTROL THE AREA’S OVERGROWN BRUSH- WHICH IF LEFT UNCHECKED COULD DRY OUT AND HEIGHTEN THE RISK OF WILDFIRES.

SO FAR, NEARLY FIVE THOUSAND INDIVIDUALS HAVE SIGNED A PETITION CALLING FOR SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY TO RECONSIDER ITS DECISION TO REMOVE THE WILD BURROS-

AND TERMINATE ITS CONTRACT WITH PEACEFUL VALLEY DONKEY RESCUE.

Trump’s EU ultimatum: Buy more US oil or face ‘TARIFFS all the way’

Trump said he told the EU “they must make up their tremendous deficit with the United States by the large scale purchase of our oil and gas. Otherwise, it is TARIFFS all the way!!!”

The trade gap between the U.S. and EU is $131.3 billion as of 2022, according to the U.S. Trade Representative.

This latest tariff threat is on top of the ones Trump has already made on America’s other close trading partners, Canada, Mexico and China.

If the EU were a country, they’d be the second-largest purchaser of U.S. goods behind Canada, and the largest supplier of goods to the U.S., beating China.

In services, the EU leads on both sides as the biggest purchaser of U.S. services and the biggest supplier of services to the U.S. The U.S. has a trade services surplus with the EU at $71.2 billion in 2022.

European Commission Spokesperson Olof Gill has already responded to Trump’s “frequent comments” about trade between the EU and the U.S.

“We need to be very clear about the facts here. So the facts are that the EU and US have deeply integrated economies with overall balanced trade and investment,” Gill said. “The EU has a substantial trade in good surplus with the US, whereas the U.S. has a substantial trade in services surplus vis-à-vis the EU.”

“And that is not always reflected in some of the types of posts you’re referencing,” Gill added, seeming to reference Trump’s posts. “We are ready to discuss with President-elect Trump how we can further strengthen an already-strong relationship, including by discussing our common interests in the energy sector. And as you all know very well, the EU is committed to phasing out energy imports from Russia and diversifying our sources of supply.”

When it came to tariff threats on China, Mexico and Canada, Trump specifically tied those threats to immigration and fentanyl. For the EU, his tariff threat attacks the overall trade deficit and ties it to purchasing oil and gas.

The EU is already on its way to increasing those purchases. Data shows U.S. crude oil exports to Europe reached 2.2 million barrels a day over the past year as of June 2024, a 23% increase from the year before. That amount is more than half of all U.S. crude oil exports.

The surge in European purchasing came when the bloc agreed to sanction Russia and reduce reliance on their oil back in 2022. But analysts say the EU is now close to maxing out what they can bring in as far as U.S. crude.

The trade deficit the U.S. runs with the EU is one Trump has railed on for years.

“We need a reciprocal relationship, which we don’t have. The United States right now has a trade deficit with the European Union of $151 billion,” Trump said in 2018 during a joint press conference with then-German Chancellor Angela Merkel. “It’s been unfair. And I don’t blame the chancellor, and I don’t blame Germany. I don’t even blame the European Union. I blame the people that preceded me for allowing this to happen.”

Trump issued some targeted tariffs on European goods during his first term. It’s unclear what “tariffs all the way” would mean in a second term.

For other close U.S. trade allies Canada and Mexico, it’s been a 25% tariff threat for all imports.

Football legend Herschel Walker tapped as next US ambassador to Bahamas

Herschel Walker, the Georgia football legend, could be on his way south to the Bahamas with a job outside of sports. On Tuesday, Dec. 17, President-elect Donald Trump nominated Walker to be the U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas. He will still need Senate confirmation to take over the post.

During Trumps’ first administration, Walker served as co-chairman of the president’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition.

Walker’s playing days are the stuff of legend. He led the Georgia Bulldogs to an undefeated season and a national championship in 1980, and he was the Heisman trophy winner in 1982.

During his professional career he played three seasons in the USFL on a team owned by Trump, then spent more than a decade in the NFL for four different teams.

In 2022 Walker, a Republican, tried his hand at politics. At the urging of Trump, he unsuccessfully ran to unseat Georgia Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock. His campaign suffered from a slew of allegations, including claims that he paid for abortions for two former girlfriends despite supporting a national abortion ban. Walker repeatedly denied those claims, calling his accusers liars.

In a 2022 interview with NBC News, Walker acknowledged having given a $700 check to an ex-partner but denied having known it was for an abortion. Trump said at the time that Walker was “being slandered and maligned.”

There is, however, one possible roadblock to the nomination becoming reality. The U.S. Senate has not confirmed an ambassador to the Bahamas in over a decade, despite receiving four different nominees during that time.

WALKER LED THE GEORGIA BULLDOGS TO AN UNDEFEATED SEASON AND A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1980 AND WAS THE HEISMAN TROPHY WINNER IN 1982.DURING HIS PROFESSIONAL CAREER HE PLAYED THREE SEASONS IN THE USFL, ON A TEAM OWNED BY TRUMP, THEN MORE THAN A DECADE IN THE NFL FOR FOUR DIFFERENT TEAMS.

IN 2022 WALKER, A REPUBLICAN, TRIED HIS HAND AT POLITICS. AT THE URGING OF TRUMP, HE UNSUCCESSFULLY RAN TO UNSEAT GEORGIA DEMOCRATIC SEN. RAPHAEL WARNOCK. HIS CAMPAIGN SUFFERED FROM A SLEW OF ALLEGATIONS INCLUDING CLAIMS THAT HE PAID FOR ABORTIONS FOR TWO FORMER GIRLFRIENDS DESPITE SUPPORTING A NATIONAL ABORTION BAN. HE REPEATEDLY DENIED THOSE CLAIMS, CALLING HIS ACCUSERS LIARS.

ONE BIG HURDLE WALKER WILL HAVE TO OVERCOME BEFORE HE FLIES SOUTH TO NASSAU. HE MUST BE CONFIRMED BY THE SENATE WHICH DESPITE RECEIVING FOUR PREVIOUS NOMINEES, HAS NOT CONFIRMED A U.S. AMBASSADOR TO THE BAHAMAS IN OVER A DECADE.

IDF accused of indiscriminate killing of Gaza civilians in Israeli media report

An Israeli media outlet reported that Israel Defense Forces are indiscriminately killing Palestinian civilians in the Gaza strip. Haaretz, Israel’s oldest newspaper known for its progressive stance and being at odds with the country’s right wing government, said commanders were given unprecedented authority to operate in the Netzarim Corridor, which lead to the killing of unarmed men, women and children.

Anonymous soldiers told Haaretz they’re coming forward to let people know “how the war really looks” after receiving questionable orders to open fire on “anyone who enters” Netzarim.

“We’re killing civilians there who are counted as terrorists,” a recently discharged officer said.

The unnamed officer also shared an incident when 200 militants were killed and only 10 were confirmed as known Hamas members.

Soldiers said they received “expanded powers,” allowing them to bomb buildings or launch air strikes that previously required approval from the army’s top staff.

IDF responds to Haaretz report

The Israeli army is pushing back on the accusations.

“All strikes in the area of Netzarim are conducted in accordance with the mandatory procedures and protocols, including targets that are struck in an urgent time frame due to essential operational circumstances where ground forces face immediate threats,” IDF told French news agency AFP.

It went on to say that any incidents that deviate IDF orders or ethical standards are thoroughly examined and addressed.

Hamas responds to Haaretz report

Hamas, whose attack on Israel in October 2023 ignited the current war, also reacted to the Haaretz report. It said that it shows evidence of war crimes and “full fledged ethnic cleansing operations.”

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said more than 45,000 people have died in Gaza since the start of the Israel-Hamas war.

18-year-old planned terror attack on Israeli consulate in New York: FBI

FBI agents arrested a Virginia college student, who they said was plotting a terrorist attack on Israel’s consulate in New York City. As reported on Thursday, Dec. 19, the agency said that 18-year-old Abdullah Hassan, a freshman at George Mason University, told an undercover informant about his plan to pull off a mass casualty attack.

Authorities said Hassan sent an Islamic State-themed video promoting the killing of Jewish people to someone claiming to be a terrorist sympathizer. However, the person Hassan sent it to was an undercover agent.

The FBI said Hassan shared several plans for the attack to the undercover agent. Some plans included using a high-powered rifle, a suicide vest or a backpack stuffed with a homemade bomb.

The informant said Hassan sent him a detailed video on how to make a bomb. He also told the informant he wanted to attack the Israeli consulate in New York. Hassan allegedly described the consulate as a “goldmine of targets.”

The FBI claimed Hassan praised 9/11 mastermind Osama bin Laden on his X account. They also said he shared antisemitic and terrorist propaganda online.

FBI agents previously interviewed Hassan in 2022 after they said he shared Islamic State propaganda online. However, the agency did not file charges in that incident.

Hassan now faces a charge related to showing the FBI informant how to make a bomb with intent to “murder internationally protected persons.” That charge carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison alone. However, prosecutors may reportedly add more charges.

George Mason University banned Hassan from campus after these charges were made public. Hassan is an Egyptian national and is currently detained while he undergoes the deportation process. The FBI investigation is expected to delay that process.

George Mason University also faced criticism over a separate incident. Recently, a pair of sisters, one current and former president of a pro-Palestinian group on campus, were banned from campus for four years after police searched their family’s home last month.

Investigators said they found relatives’ guns, ammunition and a symbol calling for death to Jewish people.

Campus police called the ban a safety precaution. However, a coalition of organizations representing students condemned the move. The groups argued the ban effectively expels the sisters from the university because they are unable to attend classes on campus.

The coalition also noted the decision was apparently made without due process.

F-B-I AGENTS ARRESTED A VIRGINIA COLLEGE STUDENT, WHO THEY SAY WAS PLOTTING A TERRORIST ATTACK ON ISRAEL’S CONSULATE IN NEW YORK.

THE AGENCY SAYS 18-YEAR-OLD ABDULLAH HASSAN, A FRESHMAN AT GEORGE MASON, TOLD AN UNDERCOVER INFORMANT ABOUT HIS PLAN TO PULL OFF A MASS CASUALTY ATTACK.

AUTHORITIES SAY HASSAN SENT AN ISLAMIC STATE-THEMED VIDEO PROMOTING THE KILLING OF JEWISH PEOPLE TO THE UNDERCOVER OFFICIAL POSING AS A TERRORIST SYMPATHIZER.

HASSAN ALLEGEDLY SHARED DIFFERENT PLANS FOR THE ATTACK INCLUDING USING A HIGH-POWERED RIFLE, SUICIDE VEST OR BACKPACK STUFFED WITH A HOMEMADE BOMB.

THE F-B-I INFORMANT SAYS HASSAN SENT HIM A DETAILED VIDEO ON HOW TO MAKE A BOMB AND WANTED TO HIT THE ISRAELI CONSULATE IN NEW YORK, WHICH HASSAN CALLED “A GOLDMINE OF TARGETS.”

THE F-B-I NOTES, HASSAN PRAISED NINE-ELEVEN MASTERMIND OSAMA BIN LADEN ON HIS X ACCOUNT AND SHARED ANTISEMITIC AND TERRORIST PROPOGANDA.

F-B-I AGENTS ALSO INTERVIEWED HASSAN IN 2022 AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY SHARED ISLAMIC STATE PROPAGANDA ONLINE, THOUGH NO CHARGES WERE FILED IN THAT INCIDENT.

GEORGE MASON BANNED HASSAN, AN EGYPTIAN NATIONAL, FROM CAMPUS, AND HE’S NOW DETAINED AND UNDERGOING THE DEPORTATION PROCESS, WHICH IS EXPECTED TO BE DELAYED AMID THE INVESTIGATION.

HASSAN FACES A CHARGE RELATED TO SHOWING THE INFORMANT HOW TO MAKE A BOMB WITH THE INTENT TO “MURDER INTERNATIONALLY PROTECTED PERSONS.”

THAT ONE CHARGE CARRIES SENTENCE UP TO 20 YEARS, AND PROSECUTORS MAY ADD MORE CHARGES.

Netflix said the World Cup matches will only be part of its offerings. Leading up to the 2027 tournament, Netflix will produce documentaries centered on players and the sport itself.

Then, Netflix will stream the 2031 Women’s World Cup. That location has yet to be announced.

This is Netflix’s latest venture into the live sports arena. In November 2024, it streamed the boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, reaching 108 million people. The event was the most-streamed sporting event ever, despite technical difficulties.

First, the streaming giant is gearing up for an NFL double-header on Christmas Day. Then on Jan. 6, Netflix will begin streaming WWE’s “Raw” weekly television series.
