Aaron Rodgers tests positive for COVID-19, and the internet yells about lies and double standards

When Aaron Rodgers claimed he had been “immunized” against COVID-19 in August 2021, reporters and fans believed he had been vaccinated with an FDA-approved vaccine. But Rodgers’ comments on the Pat McAfee show following a positive COVID-19 test revealed that the star quarterback had not received any vaccine shots. Instead, he had been pursuing alternative treatments, recommended by podcaster Joe Rogan and others, and claimed those treatments immunized him against the virus.

While the Packers and Rodgers have since been fined for COVID-19 protocol violations, everyday Twitter users and celebrities have said Rodgers’ punishment pales in comparison to the consequences and criticism faced by Kyrie Irving (who’s been honest about and suspended for not getting vaccinated against COVID-19) and Colin Kaepernick (who’s lost his job since kneeling to protest police brutality).
