AN INITIATIVE LED BY THE F-B-I IS WORKING TO CURB VIOLENT CRIME AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN IN TRIBAL COMMUNITIES.
‘OPERATION NOT FORGOTTEN’ JUST WRAPPED UP ITS SECOND MISSION … RUNNING FROM JUNE THROUGH SEPTEMBER IN NATIVE COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.
THE F-B-I JOINED FORCES WITH ‘THE BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS-OFFICE OF JUSTICE SERVICES’ – OR B-I-A – TO DEDICATE RESOURCES TOWARD CASES INVOLVING THE MOST VULNERABLE VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
THE F-B-I RELIES ON PARTNERS LIKE THE B-I-A TO HELP NAVIGATE ‘INDIAN COUNTRY’ … SINCE THE ORGANIZATION HAS CLOSER TIES TO THE COMMUNITIES THEY SERVE.
IN FOUR MONTHS – THE GROUPS’ EFFORTS LED TO OVER 40 ARRESTS.
11 VIOLENT OFFENDERS WERE INDICTED AND 9 CHILDREN WERE SAVED FROM SITUATIONS OF ABUSE OR NEGLECT.
DURING THE OPERATION, F-B-I AGENTS ALSO FOCUSED ON SOLVING HOMICIDE CASES.
today we’re gonna go out to the site of where the victim was found .. the victim was reported missing by family members.. The body was found about 4 days later in field..1
when you work something like this you feel like you get to know the individual and know them on that personal level .. it really makes you want to find justice for them
AS PART OF THE INITIATIVE – THE F-B-I ALSO PROVIDED SUPPORT – INCLUDING CRISIS INTERVENTION AND TRANSPORTATION – TO MORE THAN 400 VICTIMS.
FOR SAN – I’M KARAH RUCKER.
