THERE’S MORE TROUBLE FOR THE ADAMS ADMINISTRATION.
NEW YORK CITY’S INTERIM POLICE COMMISSIONER IS REPORTEDLY ON HIS WAY OUT – JUST WEEKS AFTER HE STEPPED UP TO THE JOB.
MAYOR ERIC ADAMS APPOINTED THOMAS DONLON AS INTERIM COMMISSIONER ON SEPTEMBER 13TH AFTER EDWARD CABAN RESIGNED.
CABAN WAS ONE OF SEVERAL ADAMS ADMINISTRATION OFFICIALS WHO HAD THEIR PHONES TAKEN BY FEDERAL AGENTS AMID INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE MAYOR AND HIS TEAM.
FEDERAL AGENTS SEARCHED DONLON’S HOMES … JUST 10 DAYS AFTER HE STARTED.
NOW SOURCES SAY HE COULD STEP DOWN AS SOON AS FRIDAY, WITH MAYOR ADAMS EXPECTED TO FILL THE POSITION AS SOON AS NEXT WEEK.
THIS IS THE LATEST SHAKE-UP IN THE ADAMS ADMINISTRATION … AS NEARLY A DOZEN OF HIS STAFFERS HAVE EITHER RESIGNED OR BEEN ARRESTED.
EARLIER THIS WEEK – FIRST DEPUTY MAYOR SHEENA WRIGHT TURNED IN HER RESIGNATION.
A FEW HOURS LATER, POLICE ARRESTED SENIOR COMMUNITY AFFAIRS LIAISON, MOHAMED BAHI (baa-hee) FOR WITNESS TAMPERING AND OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE.
FEDERAL PROSECUTORS INDICTED ADAMS LAST MONTH.
HE’S FACING FIVE FEDERAL COUNTS OF BRIBERY, CORRUPTION, WIRE FRAUD AND SOLICITING AND ACCEPTING DONATIONS FROM FOREIGN NATIONALS.
HE PLEADED NOT GUILTY AND HAS SAID HE’S DONE NOTHING WRONG.
