Lord & Taylor to relaunch as online discount luxury retailer

Lord & Taylor is the latest department store chain set to make an internet comeback. The retailer will relaunch in 2025 as a discount luxury e-commerce platform offering designer goods and Lord & Taylor-branded products, according to its new owner.

Regal Brands Global acquired the Lord & Taylor intellectual property in September after its previous owner, Saadia Group — which had re-launched the chain as an e-commerce website in 2021 — ceased operations. The last Lord & Taylor store shut down in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Business of Fashion reported Friday, Dec. 6, Regal Brands aims to sell Lord & Taylor products in other high-end retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom. Regal Brands does not currently own any other brands or retailers.

REGAL BRANDS REPORTEDLY AIMS TO POSITION LORD & TAYLOR PRODUCTS TO COMPETE WITH OTHER HIGH-END RETAILERS SUCH AS SAKS FIFTH AVENUE AND NORDSTROM.
