A MAN IS FACING SERIOUS CHARGES IN MICHIGAN AFTER A CONFRONTATION WITH A POSTAL WORKER OVER POLITICAL CAMPAIGN MATERIAL.
AUTHORITIES SAY 61-YEAR-OLD RUSSEL VALLEAU BECAME ENRAGED WHEN HE RECEIVED A POLITICAL CAMPAIGN MAILER FEATURING VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS.
ACCORDING TO OAKLAND COUNTY PROSECUTORS, VALLEAU TOLD THE CARRIER HE DIDN’T WANT THE MATERIAL IN HIS MAILBOX, REFERRING TO THE VICE PRESIDENT WITH A DEROGATORY TERM. THE SITUATION ESCALATED WHEN HE DIRECTED THE SAME SLUR TOWARD THE POSTAL WORKER AND MADE THREATS AGAINST HER WITH A KNIFE… PROMPTING HER TO DEFEND HERSELF WITH PEPPER SPRAY.
VALLEAU HAS BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH FELONY ETHNIC INTIMIDATION AND MISDEMEANOR ASSAULT AND BATTERY. IF CONVICTED, HE COULD FACE UP TO TWO YEARS IN PRISON AND FINES TOTALING OVER 5-THOUSAND.
WHILE THIS WASN’T VALLEAU’S FIRST ENCOUNTER WITH THE LAW… THE INCIDENT FOLLOWS A PATTERN OF ETHNIC INTIMIDATION CASES. IN A SEPARATE CASE, A WAYNE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY WAS RECENTLY ACQUITTED OF SIMILAR CHARGES RELATED TO A RACIAL SLUR INCIDENT.
