Over 1,000 injured in Lebanon from exploding pagers in widespread attack

First responders and ambulances rushed to transport the injured to overwhelmed hospitals, which were quickly placed on high alert. Authorities advised the public to avoid using pagers to prevent additional injuries.

Hezbollah sources have labeled the explosions as a major security breach, attributing the incident to a targeted Israeli cyberattack aimed at Hezbollah’s communication devices.

The explosions triggered widespread panic, with blasts continuing sporadically for up to half an hour after the initial incidents. Many sustained severe injuries, including critical limb damage.

Hezbollah officials have called this one of the most severe breaches in their ongoing conflict with Israel. While the Israeli Ministry of Defense has yet to comment, Hezbollah has publicly accused Israel of orchestrating the attack.

Fourteen soldiers and four civilians were wounded as an explosive drone fired from Lebanon struck a community center.

OVER ONE THOUSAND PEOPLE, INCLUDING HUNDREDS OF HEZBOLLAH FIGHTERS AND MEDICS WERE INJURED AFTER A LARGE SCALE CYBER ATTACK CAUSED PAGERS ACROSS THE REGION TO EXPLODE. THE BLASTS PRIMARILY AFFECTED THE SOUTHERN SUBURBS OF BEIRUT, AS WELL AS OTHER AREAS ACROSS LEBANON. 

THE EXPLOSIONS CAUSED WIDESPREAD PANIC, WITH INCIDENTS CONTINUING FOR UP TO HALF AN HOUR. MANY OF THE INJURED HAVE SUSTAINED SEVERE DAMAGE, INCLUDING CRITICAL LIMB INJURIES.

EMERGENCY RESPONDERS HAVE BEEN WORKING TIRELESSLY, RUSHING THE INJURED TO LOCAL HOSPITALS, WHICH ARE NOW OVERWHELMED. 

THE PUBLIC HAS BEEN ADVISED TO STAY AWAY FROM THEIR PAGERS AS A PRECAUTION AGAINST FURTHER EXPLOSIONS.

HEZBOLLAH OFFICIALS ARE CALLING THIS ATTACK A SIGNIFICANT SECURITY BREACH, BELIEVING IT WAS CAUSED BY A TARGETED ISRAELI CYBER ATTACK. THE ISRAELI MINISTRY OF DEFENSE HAS NOT YET RESPONDED TO THESE CLAIMS.

THIS EVENT REPRESENTS A SERIOUS ESCALATION IN THE ONGOING CONFLICT BETWEEN HEZBOLLAH AND ISRAEL. HEZBOLLAH OFFICIALS HAVE PUBLICLY ACCUSED ISRAEL OF ORCHESTRATING THE ATTACK, ALTHOUGH ISRAELI AUTHORITIES HAVE YET TO COMMENT.
