[RYAN ROBERTSON]
WHEN THE UNITED STATES GIVES WEAPONS TO UKRAINE–IT MOSTLY COMES FROM STOCKPILES OF OLDER ITEMS…LIKE AGING PATRIOT MISSILE INTERCEPTORS THAT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED ANYWAY.
IN THE ONGOING EFFORT TO HELP UKRAINE FIGHT RUSSIA–THE UNITED STATES DONATED BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF WEAPONS–AND THAT, IN TURN, MEANS BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF INVESTMENT GOING INTO THE U-S ECONOMY TO REPLACE THOSE ITEMS.
MORE THAN 35 STATES ARE SEEING SOME SORT OF INFUSION INTO THEIR ECONOMIES THANKS TO THE DOD SHIPPING WEAPONS TO UKRAINE–
THE WIDESPREAD EFFORT IS SUBSTANTIALLY BOOSTING THE U.S. DEFENSE INDUSTRY AS WELL, LEADING TO A 56% INCREASE IN MILITARY SALES ABROAD TOTALING $81 BILLION IN 2023.
$41.7 BILLION WAS ALLOCATED TO SUPPORT THESE EFFORTS, WITH STATES LIKE PENNSYLVANIA, ARIZONA, AND TEXAS PLAYING PIVOTAL ROLES IN THE MANUFACTURING SURGE.
PENNSYLVANIA LEADS THE CHARGE, BENEFITING FROM A TWO AND A HALF BILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT PRIMARILY AIMED AT ENHANCING ARMS AND AMMUNITION PRODUCTION—A CRITICAL COMPONENT OF THE U.S. SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE N.
THE MONEY ISN’T JUST A BOOST FOR DEFENSE, THOUGH, THIS FUNDING IS ALSO A MAJOR ECONOMIC DRIVER FOR THE STATE,WHICH COULD BE SEEN AS SIGNIFICANT GIVEN ITS STATUS AS A KEY BATTLEGROUND IN THE UPCOMING PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
FOLLOWING THE KEYSTONE STATE ARE, ARIZONA AND TEXAS– WITH INVESTMENTS AMOUNTING TO $2.02 BILLION AND $1.85 BILLION, RESPECTIVELY. THESE STATES ARE SEEING A BOOST IN HIGH-TECH DEFENSE PROJECTS, INCLUDING THE PRODUCTION OF PATRIOT MISSILE SYSTEMS IN ARIZONA AND A VARIETY OF MUNITIONS IN TEXAS.
THIS FINANCIAL INFUSION IS PART OF A BROADER STRATEGY TO NOT ONLY SUPPORT UKRAINE BUT ALSO TO FORTIFY THE U.S.’S OWN DEFENSE CAPABILITIES AGAINST FUTURE THREATS.
