Poll: Majority of Americans support mass deportation of undocumented immigrants

A recent poll conducted by The Harris Poll indicated that just over half of Americans endorse the idea of mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. According to the survey results, 51% of Americans, including 42% of Democrats and 68% of Republicans, expressed support for deporting immigrants in large numbers.

The poll also highlighted that 30% of Democrats and 46% of Republicans favor ending birthright citizenship.

Since President Biden assumed office, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported that more than 7.3 million migrants have illegally crossed the U.S.-Mexico border.

Two-thirds of Americans view illegal immigration as a tangible problem rather than a politically motivated media narrative, according to the poll.

Concerning illegal immigration, 21% of respondents cite increased crime rates, drugs and violence as their primary worry. Additionally, 18% of those polled mentioned additional costs to taxpayers, and 17% express concerns about terrorism and national security.

One-third of those surveyed attribute the responsibility for the border crisis to the Biden administration.

However, President Biden consistently criticized former President Donald Trump for obstructing efforts to address the border crisis. Former President Trump discouraged Republican lawmakers from supporting the bipartisan border security bill earlier this year. The bill would have provided increased funding for the border and enhanced enforcement.

“Now, all indications are this bill won’t move forward to the Senate floor,” Biden said during a news conference in February. “Why? A simple reason: Donald Trump.”

After months of negotiations, the Senate terminated the bipartisan border deal, with Republicans asserting that the compromise “wasn’t enough.”

Trump heavily criticized Biden’s handling of the U.S.-Mexico border while on the campaign trail.

“But it’s a border bloodbath and it’s destroying our country,” Trump stated. “It’s a very bad thing happening. It’s going to end on the day that I take office, which will be January 20th, it’ll end.”

Since the collapse of the bipartisan border deal in February, Biden hinted at potentially using executive power to address migrant crossings at the border. However, he has not issued an executive order to do so.

Trump pledged to conduct the “largest domestic deportation operation in American history.”

According to the poll, it appears that more Americans are aligning with former President Trump on immigration. The topic remains a top concern for voters in the 2024 presidential election.

A NEW POLL SHOWS – JUST OVER HALF OF AMERICANS NOW SUPPORT MASS DEPORTATIONS OF UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

THE HARRIS POLL REVEALS: 51 PERCENT OF AMERICANS – INCLUDING 42-PERCENT OF DEMOCRATS AND 68-PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS SAY THEY WOULD SUPPORT DEPORTING IMMIGRANTS IN MASS NUMBERS.

THE SURVEY ALSO FOUND 30-PERCENT OF DEMOCRATS AND 46-PERCENT OF REPUBLICANS BACK ENDING BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP.

SINCE PRESIDENT BIDEN TOOK OFFICE – US CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION REPORTS – MORE THAN 7.3 MILLION MIGRANTS HAVE ILLEGALLY CROSS THE US-SOUTHERN BORDER.

TWO-THIRDS OF AMERICANS SAY, “ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS A REAL PROBLEM – NOT A POLITICALLY DRIVEN MEDIA NARRATIVE”.

ACCORDING TO THE POLL – 21-PERCENT OF RESPONDENTS SAID THEIR GREATEST CONCERN AROUND ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION WAS “INCREASED CRIME RATES, DRUGS AND VIOLENCE” WHILE 18-PERCENT CITED THE ADDITIONAL COSTS TO TAXPAYERS, AND 17-PERCENT CITED THE RISK OF TERRORISM AND NATIONAL SECURITY.

A THIRD OF THOSE POLLED SAY THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IS “MOST RESPONSIBLE” FOR THE BORDER CRISIS.

HOWEVER — PRESIDENT BIDEN HAS REPEATEDLY CRITICIZED FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP BLOCKING EFFORTS TO ADDRESS THE BORDER CRISIS. THE FORMER PRESIDENT TOLD REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS EARLIER THIS YEAR NOT TO SUPPORT THE BIPARTISAN BORDER SECURITY BILL – WHICH WOULD’VE PROVIDED INCREASED FUNDING FOR THE BORDER AND ENHANCED ENFORCEMENT.

[JOE BIDEN]

“NOW, ALL INDICATIONS ARE THIS BILL WON’T MOVE FORWARD TO THE SENATE FLOOR. WHY? A SIMPLE REASON: DONALD TRUMP.”

AFTER MONTHS OF NEGOTIATIONS — THE SENATE KILLED THE BI-PARTISAN BORDER DEAL – WITH REPUBLICANS SAYING THE COMPROMISE “WASN’T ENOUGH.”

ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL – TRUMP HAS HAMMERED BIDEN’S HANDLING OF THE US-MEXICO BORDER.

[DONALD TRUMP]

“BUT IT’S A BORDER BLOODBATH AND IT’S DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY. IT’S A VERY BAD THING HAPPENING. IT’S GOING TO END ON THE DAY THAT I TAKE OFFICE, WHICH WILL BE JANUARY 20TH, IT’LL END.”

 [LAUREN TAYLOR]

SINCE THE BI-PARTISAN BORDER DEAL FELL APART IN FEBRUARY – BIDEN HAS HINTED THAT HE MIGHT USE EXECUTIVE POWERS TO CRACK DOWN ON MIGRANTS CROSSING THE BORDER.

YET – HE HAS SIGNED NO SUCH EXECUTIVE ORDER.

TRUMP HAS VOWED TO CONDUCT THE “LARGEST DOMESTIC DEPORTATION OPERATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY.”

AND ACCORDING TO THE AXIOS POLL – IT LOOKS LIKE MORE AMERICANS ARE SIDING WITH FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP ON THE IMMIGRATION ISSUE – ONE TOP OF MIND FOR VOTERS IN THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
