RESEARCHERS CLAIM THE EQUIVALENT OF TWO-THOUSAND GARBAGE TRUCKS FULL OF PLASTIC IS DUMPED INTO THE WORLD’S BODIES OF WATER EVERY DAY.
THE STUDY SHOWED A DIRECT RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE COMPANIES’ PLASTIC PRODUCTION AND THE AMOUNT OF PLASTIC BEARING THEIR NAME.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE GIANTS HAVE EMERGED AS MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS.
THE TOP FIVE GLOBAL POLLUTERS ARE COCA-COLA, PEPSICO, NESTLE, DANONE AND ALTRIA.
IN RESPONSE TO THE FINDINGS, COCA-COLA SAID IT’S COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH ITS “WORLD WITHOUT WASTE” STRATEGY.
AIMING TO MAKE ALL PACKAGING RECYCLABLE GLOBALLY BY 2025.
AND INCORPORATE AT LEAST 50 PERCENT OF RECYCLED MATERIAL BY 2030.
ACCORDING TO A REPORT BY GREENPEACE, THE VAST MAJORITY OF PLASTIC PEOPLE USE IS NOT BEING RECYCLED.
