IF YOU’VE EVER WORRIED ABOUT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TAKING YOUR JOB YOU’RE NOT ALONE.
TWO NEW SURVEYS REVEAL MORE THAN A THIRD OF U.S. WORKERS ARE SWEATING THE IDEA OF A-I SLASHING THEIR HOURS, CUTTING THEIR PAY OR WORSE, BOOTING THEM OUT OF THEIR JOB.
BUT EVEN THOUGH AI TOOLS ARE CREEPING INTO WORKPLACES–
MOST PEOPLE SAY IT HASN’T REPLACED THEIR JOBS TO DATE.
STILL, ABOUT 20% OF THOSE USING AI ARE CONCERNED OVER ITS POTENTIAL IMPACT TO THEIR CAREERS.
ALSO, MORE WORKERS NOW THINK AI WILL TAKE JOBS IN THEIR INDUSTRIES COMPARED TO LAST YEAR.
BUT ON THE FLIP SIDE, MORE WORKERS ALSO BELIEVE AI WILL CREATE NEW JOB OPPORTUNITIES.
AND MOST PEOPLE THINK AI WILL ENHANCE ROUTINE TASKS AND KEEP AN EYE ON EMPLOYEES.
THESE SURVEYS COME AS AI TECH BECOMES MORE PREVALENT ACROSS DIFFERENT INDUSTRIES.
WITH ITS RAPID EVOLUTION, SOME PEOPLE ARE REPORTEDLY UNEASY ABOUT THE LACK OF REGULATIONS.
THE NEW SURVEYS WERE DONE IN MID-MARCH.
AROUND TWO-THOUSAND ADULTS WERE POLLED.
THE WORKERS CAME FROM VARIOUS INDUSTRIES– BUT THE SURVEY DID NOT SPECIFY WHICH ONES.
THE QUESTIONS FOCUSED ON WORKERS CONCERNS AND PERCEPTIONS OF AI WITH RESPECT TO THEIR JOBS.
