Trump’s endorsements beginning to hurt GOP candidates

One of the big landslides of tonight that’s going to have long term implications is what’s happening in Florida, where Gov. Ron DeSantis is going to be winning his race by close to 20 points. That’s more than twice what anyone was expecting at the time. I think that’s going to be very helpful for his presidential ambitions should he decide to run and may not be so helpful for former President Trump.

I’d also point out that Trump’s endorsements are beginning to hurt Republican chances in the Senate. His choice in New Hampshire is now running behind. His choice in Ohio is not doing anywhere near as well as was expected.

And we don’t know whether his choice in Georgia is going to pay off. So one of the subtexts tonight is: What are Republicans going to think of Donald Trump at the end of the night? And if the process continues the way it’s continuing right now, I would say they’re not going to think very highly of him. They have much better choices — not just DeSantis, but other rising stars among state governors.
