Defense Sec. Hegseth cancels $580M in DOD contracts

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced cuts totaling over $580 million in Department of Defense contracts. He said this is part of efforts to eliminate wasteful spending in the federal government.

Hegseth said the programs were “not a good use of taxpayer dollars,” in a video he posted on X.

One of the cuts he announced was an “HR software effort” that went more than $280 million over budget.

At least $30 million was cut from consulting expenses with companies like McKinsey & Co. and Gartner.
