DEI statements no longer required for many Harvard faculty applicants

Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences is reportedly doing away with a requirement that applicants for positions submit statements about their methods of encouraging “diversity, inclusion, and belonging.”

It has eliminated the requirement for tenure-track faculty applicants to submit diversity statements, as reported by The Boston Globe.

Instead, finalists must submit service and teaching statements, as per Dean Nina Zipser’s announcement in response to faculty concerns, as stated by the Harvard Crimson.

The change aims to gather broader information and better assist foreign applicants.
