Democratic lawmaker pressed on why party is ‘so staggeringly unpopular’

Fifty-seven percent of the American people have an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party, according to a Quinnipiac poll. This is the worst number for the Democratic Party since Quinnipiac University began asking the question.
When asked by CNN’s Jake Tapper why the part is “so staggeringly unpopular,” Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., stated that Democrats need to focus on bread-and-butter issues to improve their popularity. Meanwhile, a recent CNN poll found a 33-year low favorable rating for the Democratic Party.
