‘Greater Idaho’ measure passes in 13th Oregon county

The residents of Crook County, Oregon, approved a new “Greater Idaho” measure on Tuesday, May 21. The measure will require the county to continue efforts to secede from the state, instead becoming a part of Idaho. Voters passed the measure with a 53% majority. It is the 13th county in eastern Oregon to approve it.

Counties do not have the power or authority to leave or join a state. Any attempts to redraw state borders would require approval from Idaho, Oregon and the U.S. Congress.
