Pa.’s governor says the Trump administration has unfrozen billions in grants and loans

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro stated that the Trump administration freed up billions in federal aid that he accused it of withholding illegally and unconstitutionally. Shapiro reported that over $2 billion became accessible to state agencies after he filed a lawsuit in federal court on Feb. 13.

The lawsuit named five federal agencies and claimed aid was withheld for energy efficiency upgrades and environmental cleanups.

According to local media outlet WFMZ, much of the grant funding that was unfrozen was passed during the Biden administration, including money for a 2022 climate law, the Inflation Reduction Act and the bipartisan infrastructure bill, passed in 2021.
