RCMP deploys helicopters to patrol Canada-US border amid tariff threats

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Quebec, Canada, showcased a Black Hawk helicopter along the Canada-U.S. border in a show of enhanced security efforts. In December 2024, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened tariffs on Canadian exports due to concerns over illegal crossings.

Trump promised increased tariffs if Canada did not enhance its border security efforts.

Ottawa, Canada, has committed $1.3 billion for border security improvements since Trump’s election.

RCMP Sgt. Charles Poirier reassured that there is no migration crisis at the border, stating the situation is under control.
