Schiff invited on Trump California trip

California Sens. Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla, both Democrats, declined President Donald Trump’s invitation to visit wildfire areas in their state, prioritizing Senate confirmation voting instead. Trump told a reporter that he didn’t invite the senators, but that someone on his team did.
Republicans have proposed conditions for federal aid to California, including new voter ID rules and water release policies from Northern California. Gov. Gavin Newsom met President Trump upon his arrival in California, despite their past disagreements. Schiff’s absence from Trump’s visit is notable due to his committee assignments and history with Trump.
